when & where
Saturday 22nd of January at VoidWarranties
the workshops starts at 14:00
what
This workshop will teach people how to sew LEDs down with conductive thread,
to add some lights to their clothing.
This is a great way to learn the
basics of parallel/series circuits, polarity, resistance, hand-sewing, etc.
Your space will be left with a decent quantity of conductive thread
afterwards as well, which can be used for pretty much anything.
Examples of applications:
Flex resistor jacket dance

fee
Participation will be free for hackerspace members (0x20,HSBxl,Voidwarranties) except for material costs...
Non-Members that want to participate actively are asked to make a 5 euro contribution to the space hosting the event.
Everybody is welcome to come and have a look at the workshop.
Details on material cost will follow soon.

material provided
We need:
- 1 embroidery needle per attendee.(yashiko)
- 1 pair scissors (at least)(yashiko:1 pair)
- 1 spool 234/34 ply conductive thread (http://www.sparkfun.com/products/8549). (bkay:1 spool)
- Super bright LEDs (amount up to you, but three per person should be the minimum). (bkay: plenty)
- 1 resistor per LED (1k) (optional; conductive thread is SUPER resistant, ~ 1 ohm per inch, and does not necessarily require traditional resistor-LED coupling, hence if you do get resistors, a lower resistance is good). (Stefan: plenty)
- 1 multimeter (at least) (Stefan 3 pcs)
- 1 non-serrated pair of needle nose pliers (like, smooth on the inside) (at least) (Stefan: 2 sets)
- A whole bunch of AAA batteries OR a whole bunch of coin cells rated at 1.5V (alkaline, silver). (bkay:plenty)
- 1 AAA battery holder per attendee (with either 2 or 3 slots) OR a few coin cell battery holders (one per coin cell purchased). (bkay: 5 holders)
- Fray lock (1 or 2 tubes) or super glue (3 or 4 tubes).(yashiko)
- I have isolated (lacked)copper wire (0.18mm) easy to handle also for sewing, you can solder it to led, resistor, ...
